Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)

Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) is a group of gases mainly composed of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂). These gases are primarily produced by fuel combustion in vehicles, power plants, and industrial processes. NOx plays a key role in the formation of ground-level ozone, fine particulate matter (PM₂.₅), and acid rain. Short-term exposure can irritate the respiratory system, while long-term exposure increases the risk of chronic lung disease and cardiovascular problems. Monitoring NOx levels helps assess air quality and evaluate the impact of traffic and energy use on the environment.
